Nature reserves and other special places for wildlife in north east Cheshire set to receive a boost thanks to a unique two-year project. Our unique partnership with ScottishPower Energy Networks is one of the first its kind in the country, and will see a number of schemes undertaken across the Trust’s own nature reserves and private sites, with an emphasis on woodland areas – a habitat often lost during power line construction for safety reasons.

A herd of furry four-legged lawnmowers have arrived at a Wirral nature reserve to help turn a former arable field into a wildlife haven. The Wildlife Trusts welcomed the announcement from Rt Hon Hilary Benn this month that the Government is calling for a phase-out of peat in compost material by 2020, but have warned that even greater urgency is needed if we are to restore and manage our peatlands effectively.

For several months groups of workers under the control of Cheshire Probation Area have been carrying out a variety of tasks at Bickley Hall Farm, near Malpas, the headquarters of Cheshire Wildlife Trust.
